The heir of the dynastic line

In 2010, THR were blessed with the birth of HRH Prince Carol Ferdinand, Prince of Romania, senior male grand-grand-son of His Majesty King Carol II. Here are some pictures of his journey so far, from his baptism with his godfather President Traian Basescu to a grand parade wearing a gendarmerie uniform. HRH Prince Carol Ferdinad is now 16.

He was blessed by His Beatitude Bartholomew I, Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople during his visit to the Bucharest Greek Orthodox Church and by His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania at the Patriarchy.

Baptism of Prince Carol Ferdinand

Prince Carol Ferdinand was baptized at the Domnita Balasa Church in May 2010 A grandiose ceremony, officiated by the Bishop of Bucharest, who poured a few drops of holy water on the baby’s forehead. The President of the Romanian Republic, Mr. Traian Basescu, agreed to be the prince’s official godfather. Among his godmothers, the little prince counts the wife of the President of the Republic, Mrs. Maria Basescu, Princess Maria Gabriella of Italy, and Princess Madeleine zu Bentheim und Steinfurt. Prince Moritz of Hesse also had the honor of being a godfather. For the occasion, the royal baby was dressed in a “haute couture” gown designed by the Romanian designer Catalin Botezatu.
